Encourage your child to experience the world around them through sight, sound and touch with our range of toys specifically designed for Stimulating Senses.
What is the Age Range of the Products in the Skill?
Early Learning Centre products that encourage Stimulating Senses start from birth and go up to age 3 years + with products for a wide range of ages in between.
What are the 5 key elements of Stimulating Senses?
What types of products fit within the skill?
There are many products throughout our range that stimulate children’s senses. With a wide variation of suitable ages and play patterns there are lots of different ways our toys encourage and support growing children.
Music & Sound Sensory Toys
Letting children experiment with different sounds is a good way to encourage auditory stimulation. Music & Sound Sensory Toys such as Musical Toys are a great way to let children explore different sounds. Children's Percussion Instruments and Pianos & Keyboards are a good way to introduce young children to more gentle sounds.
Light Sensory Toys
Encouraging children to play with Light Sensory Toys helps with visual stimulation. Toys that have bright contrasting patterns and lights are great for early visual development.
Textured Sensory Toys
Textured Sensory Toys with a variety of patterns and colours are great for visual and tactile stimulation. They also promote Hand Eye Coordination and Fine Motor Skills development.
Movement Sensory Toys
Help encourage children to experience through touch with Movement Sensory Toys. Products such as Bubbles can be used as a simple and fun way to stimulate the senses of touch and sight in children. Bubble Machines release streams of bubble at a touch of a button. A good tip is to put the bubble machine in the garden so that the bubbles float around in the breeze. Children can chase and try to catch the bubbles as they float around them.
How Can Parents Encourage Development Using Specific Toys?
Engagement from parents can play a significant role in children getting the most out of their toys. Remember to keep interaction positive and offer gentle encouragement and praise if your child is finding something difficult.
Please remember that it is important to choose toys that are appropriate for your child's developmental stage and age. To learn more about your child’s milestones, have a read of our article 'Guide to Your Baby’s Developmental Milestones'.
